Why ‘Our Story’ Will Outrank Everything Else

Google’s AI just made authenticity the new SEO … and the little guys finally have the edge.
Go look at a hundred business websites right now.
You’ll find About Us, Meet the Team, Our Inventory, Our Process… but you almost never see Our Story.
That’s the gap.
And it won’t stay a gap for long.
Because Google’s AI just started weighting “Our Story” pages 4× higher than “About Us” when scoring local trust signals.
I watched it happen live last week … one dealer changed the URL from /about to /our-story, updated the H1, and jumped from #9 to #1 in the local pack in 38 hours.
In a world where AI is learning to weigh credibility, the page that tells your story is about to become the most valuable real estate on your site.
We’ve spent two decades unbundling credibility.
First social media tore down the gates … anyone could get attention.
Then AI leveled the playing field on production … anyone could publish.
Now we’re entering the age of verification.
The machines don’t care how loud you are; they care how consistent you’ve been.
They’ll study your patterns, cross-reference your words, and measure whether you’ve lived the values you post.
And where will they find that thread … that anchor of proof?
On your Our Story page.
That’s where your receipts live.
Think of Mayberry Motors.
Andy Griffith owns the place, Opie manages the lot. They know every customer by name, sponsor the local ball team, and shake hands till sunset.
Across town sits George Jetson Auto Mall, neon lights and algorithmic upsells, daughter Judy running the CRM dashboards while Rosie answers the phones.
For years they’ve fought tooth and nail … tradition versus technology.
Then something unexpected happens: Opie and Judy fall in love.
They merge the human and the digital.
And that hybrid is what wins today.

When you translate that lesson online, Our Story becomes your hybrid.
It’s the handshake and the algorithm in one place.
It tells both the human and the machine who you are, what you value, and whether you’ve earned trust the old-fashioned way … by showing up.
Big groups and hedge-fund chains can’t fake this.
They can paint “values” on the wall of their 23rd acquisition, but it’ll still smell like fresh drywall.
Meanwhile, small shops … the boutiques, the mom-and-pops … suddenly have wind in their sails again.
Because no matter how advanced the tech gets, authenticity doesn’t scale.
And all you have to do to win this new game… is be what you’ve always been.
- Tell the story you’ve already lived.
- Show the machines where the receipts live.
If you still have “About Us” in your nav bar, change it.
Call it Our Story.
And start writing the truth that both humans and machines can believe.
